I'm not here to complain about getting suspended on PSN. Regardless of the preamble, technically, I said something I shouldn't have and I got communication banned on PSN for 7 days.
You'd like to think, "Oh, no big deal, I just can't message people or start parties". That seems to be the intended/expected behavior there. You'd be wrong.
First thing I noticed - YouTube and Twitch become completely inaccessible (click here to see image). This is the most asinine consequence of this ban I've noticed thus far. I got banned for communicating "wrongly" and as a punishment, I can't watch YouTube anymore. This is stupid and nonsensical.
Secondly, certain games look at this "restriction" and handle it incorrectly. You could argue this being the game's fault, and I would agree, but PSN's implementation of this seems to stem from some janky parental control integration. For example, in TEKKEN 8, being that I am suspended, again, only from communications, I can no longer watch replays. This issue probably occurs in many other games too, this is just the one example I have since it's one of the only multi-player games I play.
I get that people should be held accountable for their actions. I should not be allowed to speak in games, start parties, or message people. Fair enough. But I should NOT be restricted from watching YouTube/Twitch, or have certain game features unrelated to communications stripped away from me. So, now in order to watch YouTube, I had to create an alt PSN account. Who knows if that's also against ToS and my account gets banned for longer. Just to watch YouTube...
Hope someone found some entertainment out of this at least. I don't care that I'm banned, but the way bans are handled here is incredibly foolish.
