Hi, first post, so go easy on me please.
I downloaded some media files to share with my daughter.. a TV series...all from same place.. all nominally "the same" file type/structure.
I used Leawo file converter to convert the 8 episodes to PS5 compatible version (MP4)..
It did it fine.. and so I transfered all files to a USB drive and gave to my daughter..
But the strange thing is, that all showed up on her PS5, and played just fine, EXCEPT for episode 8
That episode did not even show up as available on the PS5
So I assumed I had missed it... so went to do it again, but when I checked the USB on the PC, Episode 8 was there just fine.

So what kind of issue might account for that? all episode were "the same" as far as I was concerned..
But somehow just Ep 8 was different and did not show up
(so just to confirm, it did not show at all, its not like it showed up, and just would not play).

So any idea what kind of issue I facing here? I can prob did in for the exact file types within the MP4 container if needed
But it seems so bizzare, if you can give me an initial pointer to what might explain it, I can dig further.

Thanks in advance for any insight
Cheers

Hello & welcome.
What size & make is the USB drive? Is it a HDD/SSD or thumb drive?
Does the file play fine on the PC?
Is the ep 8 file size similar to the others?
Are the episodes from a purchased DVD or from home movies/recorded from the TV?

Hi,
Its a samsung 1tb 2.5" HDD USB powered. Formatted as exFAT. Should not be too relevant as the other 7 episodes all play OK.
The Episode that does not show is slightly larger than all others,.. at 3.1GB when largest that plays is 2.9GB.
Yes, all the files play on PC.. both before conversion to PS5 compatible and after.
Source is torrent.. all from same person, but as individual episodes.. so MAY be they not exactly same..
They reported as h264 and in MKV container..
As I say, Leawo converter did not object at all, converted them all to PS5 compatible with no issue/warnings.

I’d try converting that episode again if you haven’t tried already.
Of course with Torrent the file may contain malware which is being stripped by the conversion so is affecting playback. To check try scanning the original file via VirusTotal website.
I’d try a different conversion program to see if the problems remains.

thanks, yes, i did try reconverting, same settings (just the basic "to ps5") and still no joy
malware unlikely, would expect my av to catch that in original file or at conversion
I will see what other option i have re converters, but would like to know what at play here
I dont have a ps5 to test, but will try it on my ps4

I would manually choose the settings rather than choosing PS5 option, however it’s strange if that was the cause as it worked for 7 episodes.
