Hi, we got a PS5 at Christmas and I have set it up as myself as the main account, as well as 2 other user accounts for my wife and son. I have a Plus subscription which works fine for me, but neither of the other 2 users can use it. I expected them to be able to browse the game library and download from it because of my subscription, but they can't. It says they need to pay for a subscription. They can however play games that I've downloaded.
"console sharing and offline play" is definitely enabled within my account.
Any help appreciated!

I have that problem too. My brothers have to pay for their own ps plus subscription to play multiplayer on the same playstation. I can’t say for sure, but I’m sure PlayStation or Sony pulled a Netflix on players and said no more free Console sharing.

Sharing PlayStation Plus benefits with child family members

Child family members are able to subscribe to PlayStation Plus using funds from their family manager’s wallet to pay the recurring PlayStation Plus subscription fees (within the child's set spending limit).

Alternatively, if you are a family manager and you share a console with child family members, you can subscribe to PlayStation Plus and share some of the main benefits of PlayStation Plus with child family members on one PS5 console and one PS4 console.

Please note that child family members can only access content through PlayStation Plus that is age-appropriate (according to the age rating of the content). Child family members will only be able to access age-appropriate content based on parental controls set by the parent.

I suspect you may have more consoles than can be shared.

I don’t think sharing would work on the same console however is it set as the main console?

I think so. "console sharing and offline play" is enabled. Is there another setting I need to check?

I think that works for single console co-op only, but online multiplayer is a different thing. it’s one thing if you play one vs one with a friend on your console in call of duty for example, but if you’re playing online with that friend on your side, they need to have their own ps plus.

On the PlayStation website it says this:

"PlayStation Plus benefits that can be shared
While you are a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you can share selected benefits on one PS5 console with Console Sharing and Offline Play activated, and one PS4 console that is activated as your primary PS4 console.
PlayStation Plus features you can share
  • Online multiplayer (subject to parental control settings).
  • Downloaded games purchased with PlayStation Plus discount.
  • Downloaded Monthly Plus games.
  • PlayStation Plus game and classic catalogue games (depending on membership plan)."
I took this to mean that other users can access the games catalogue and download games that are included with my subscription from there.
Am I misunderstanding it?

It may be that sharing is between consoles rather than accounts on the same console.

You’re right about that. I downloaded red dead redemption 2 and my brothers played it on their account, even though they didn’t have an account at the time.

👍🏻

Thanks all. Think I'll try to get an answer from Sony support (if I can find it!) wish me luck!

Fingers crossed. Keep us updated.
