PS5 Motion controllers not working

Hi I’m new to this and my son has the PlayStation 5.
So we bought a VR which came with motion controllers for his birthday. We put them on charge, tried to connect and nothing. We have tried to reset, nothing. So then we actually changed the batteries and still nothing, also tried on the PS4. When you press the button it flashes but doesn’t connect and I would have thought they charged as light doesn’t blink when in the charging dock or connected to the USB unless you press the button. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks

Usually you need to connect the controllers to the PS4/5 via the official charge & sync cable & turn them on. Once registered they will work wireless.

Thank you. I have been thinking maybe the cable is the problem. I will see if I can find another one.

All sorted. We needed to remove some devices from the PlayStation
