How can I get a valid backup verification code?

Hi,

I am unable to sign in to the PlayStation network as I cannot obtain a verification code. I am not logged in on any other device so cannot access backup codes.

I cannot get 2-step verification to work (cannot make sense of it at all). I’ve emailed PlayStation support and after 9 days am still waiting for a response.

Can anyone suggest how I can get a backup code when I can’t actually log in anywhere to obtain one? Makes no sense..
 
How do you obtain the verification codes? If via text then are these not arriving? Do other texts arrive?
Do you have the recovery codes saved from when you set up MFA? If yes then you can use one of those to sign in.
If you don’t have 2FA/MFA enabled then can’t you elaborate on what code you’re being asked for?
