Hello all, so here's my situation. I use my laptop to remote play games when at work or away from my home network. I use NordVPN while doing it. I have Xfinity as my IP. I had to swap out my old modem/router from years of usage, it was beginning to drop the wifi in the house to much for my wife's liking. So I simply got another one from Xfinity. Well since this happened (4 days ago now). I am unable to connect now to my Playstation remotely to play. I've contacted NordVPN, they told me I should have never been able to do what I was doing anyway and they can't help. I've called Xfinity and they basically if I have internet in my house they can't help me. So I've been on YouTube a lot the last few days, and I ran into something called a bridge VPN, and that I would have to basically ditch my Xfinity modem/router and purchase an aftermarket Modem and Router that's VPN compliant to now access my PS5 so I can continue using remote play. Has anyone in here done anything like this? Are you able to guide me in this adventure so that I can play remotely again? Thank you for your time.

Edit: I want to add the Remote Play works as it should, If I disconnect NordVPN, I can use my mobile hotspot and It will access it. I'm not interested in burning through my data to play. I have access to my employers network, but I'm limited to YouTube, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace. It restricts anything else, which is why I use the VPN to remote play. (If this question would arise). Thanks again

Have you updated all devices to the new SSID & passcode?
Is there any error message when trying to connect/play remotely?
Is the Remote play app set to use cellular connection or WiFi?
Are you signed into the app?
Is the internet speed between 5mbps & 15mbps?
Have you deleted the remote play app & reinstalled it to start setup again?
Is the PS5 set to start while in rest mode?

Ok. So I apologize if I wasn't clear on what's going on. I can use remote play fine using my phone, If I'm away from home, or using a friends network if I'm at their house. Remote play works fine. My issue (NOW) is I used to be able for years to use remote play from my employers internet using NordVPN. As of a few days ago, I changed my Xfinity Modem/Router combo to another Modem/Router from Xfinity. Now I lost the ability to remote play using the VPN. So my issue is the new modem is blocking my attempt somehow. Xfinity or NordVPN are helping me. From what I'm seeing the way around all of this now is to replace the Xfinity modem/Router with an aftermarket Modem and Router that will cooperate with the VPN and bridge it to regain remote access to my home network. I am unfamilar with the computer jargon I'm seeing, which I why I came here to see if someone can give me a step by step way to do it.

Can you access the router’s settings to see if there’s anything which needs turning on or off?
If you turn off the VPN can you then connect? If not then it isn’t the VPN.

Wow!!! That sounds like my issue with the modem. Once they gave me the new modem, I lost the ability to remote play with the VPN running. The model I have now The XB8-T(Well Had,) because I just purchased and setting up right now a NetGear Nighthawk CM3000 Modem with a TP-LinkBE9300 Router. Once up and running fully, I'll look through the settings to see if anything makes sense to me to be able to play

That link also offers a solution which hopefully will help you too.

It works, So in the set up process, I looked and seen that IPv4 was pre configured, IPv6 was disabled, I hit the tab to enable and auto configure. Went to work, and tried it. Just like that, I'm back playing. Buy my own Modem/Router was the ticket. I am returning Xfinity's modem today. Good riddings!! Thank you very much for helping me figure this out. Much Appreciated!!!

Great to hear & you’re welcome. Enjoy remote gaming again.
