I’m posting this as a genuine feature request that I think would make a huge difference for a lot of PS5 users, especially those of us who value underground music, indie artists, and longform audio content. Right now, the PlayStation 5 only supports Spotify for background music and podcasts.. which is fine for mainstream content, but it doesn’t support a huge number of artists, remixes, or podcasts that live exclusively on SoundCloud. SoundCloud has a massive creative community that isn’t mirrored on Spotify, and for many of us, it’s where we discover new genres, ambient mixes, cool independent podcasts, and raw emotional uploads that can’t be found anywhere else.
It would be nice to see:
• A native SoundCloud app for PS5 under the Media tab.
• Support for background playback (like Spotify currently has), so we can listen to music or podcasts while gaming.
• It’d be sick to even have a dedicated podcast app, OR even an open audio player that supports RSS feeds, that in itself would be love too.
Not everyone uses Spotify, and many gamers want to game while staying immersed in their own audio world, whether that’s a niche podcast, an underground hip-hop track, or ambient soundscapes not available on major platforms. A lot of us are long time SoundCloud users who would love to see it supported on the console we spend the most time on. With that, if there’s anything we as a community can do to help push this forward, petitions, testing, feedback, etc.. I’d be happy to contribute.
