PS4 Dualshock controller won't turn on

So today I connected my ps4 controller to the ps4, the controller light turned orange/yellow and then nothing happens. The controller won't turn on and won't connect to the ps4. I tried the hard reset button below the L2 button but it didn't help. Is my controller faulty and I require a new one?

This has happened to me a few times, oddly enough it just reset after a while and then worked.

Luckily though I have 2 controllers... Is it a new one or did you let the battery die?

It tends to not connect straight away if you let it die then forget to recharge it asap

It is not new, I have it since when I bought the ps4 5 years ago, and I don't think it's battery was drained, I played last night for 2 hours and the controller was connected to the ps4 the whole time.
