I purchased a used PS4. It does not have the corner power button but the one halfway to the middle. So I cannot get my TV to recognize the PS4. The previous owner said no problems with the HDMI prior. I tried two cables. It seems like I was able to turn it off with the button but now I cannot. I tried to boot it in safe mode. It does but there is still no communication with the TV. So I have to unplug it to turn it off and no picture. No device found. Samsung TV older. I have tried several online fixes. I can't get it to read. I was gonna try a different tv but its late. Not sure what to do.

Either the TV’s HDMI port is faulty or it isn’t on the correct HDMI channel. The third option is that the seller was lying & the connector is broken.
Does any other device work on the same TV connection?
What’s the model of the TV?

I have tried both TVs. Samsung and a Sanyo. All of the other devices work on the tv ports. Roku, etc. I went and bought a 4k hdmi cord but still nothing. I have tried everything I can find to read including two tvs. He said it worked when he unplugged it. It powers on. The controller is workimg although it does not turn the ps4 on. What now?

Did the seller show you when it was working or just say it worked?
If the PS4 was reset then it may have reset the controller so you’d need a charge & sync capable cable, once connected then you can set up to connect via Bluetooth.
Otherwise is the TV on the correct HDMI output? If yes then the PS4 is faulty.

Another thought is that the PS4 is in the wrong resolution:
  1. Turn Off the PS4: Manually turn off your PS4 by holding down the power button until it beeps and turns off completely.
  2. Boot into Safe Mode: Press and hold the power button again. Keep holding it until you hear a second beep (about 7 seconds). This will boot the PS4 into Safe Mode.
  3. Connect Your Controller: Use a USB cable to connect your controller to the PS4, as wireless connections won't work in Safe Mode.
  4. Select Change Resolution: From the Safe Mode menu, select the option to Change Resolution. The PS4 will restart and prompt you to select a resolution compatible with your TV
